I doubt many of you know where this carved sandstone plaque is. Originally known as `The Galleries` - J.W. Needham Antiques, then it was a cafe run by Charles Irwin , then it was Clwb y Cornel and now it has been named `Cuckoo`! On the corner of Abergele Road and Victoria Road, Old Colwyn. Its a strange one this. Obviously the stone was placed there when the building was constructed - The building was originally Evan Roberts`s butchers shop, so as ER & Sons say they were established from 1860 through to 1900 were they ceasing trading on completion of the building? I don`t understand. It appears to me to be some sort of memorial stone as it has two dates. Any one any clues?
